QUINT POWER DC/DC

QUINT POWER DC/DC converters supply 24 V DC and 48 V DC circuits from DC networks. Input ranges include 12–24 V DC, 24 V DC, 48–110 V DC, 60–72 V DC and 96–110 V DC, with output currents from 1.3 A to 20 A. These voltages correspond both to onboard batteries in rail vehicles and to station batteries in interlockings and substations, where control circuits operate at 110 V DC while loads require 24 V DC.

Full galvanic isolation between input and output limits interference propagation through the power-supply path and allows isolated control circuits to be created. The converters compensate voltage drops at the ends of long supply lines, which is important in extensive installations-along a vehicle and in wayside cabinets located far from the supply point. Like mains power supplies, they provide power reserves and a DC OK signal output for the supervisory system. Four items include SFB technology: QUINT4-PS/24DC/24DC/20/SC/+ with a 120 A pulse for 15 ms, QUINT-PS/24DC/48DC/5 with 30 A for 12 ms, and QUINT-PS/60-72DC/24DC/10/CO plus QUINT-PS/96-110DC/24DC/10/CO with 60 A for 12 ms.

All rolling-stock items comply with EN 50121-3-2 and have startup tested at −40 °C. EN 45545-2 HL3 fire protection is confirmed by datasheets for four positions: QUINT4-PS/12-24DC/24DC/1.3/PT, QUINT-PS/24DC/48DC/5, QUINT4-PS/48-110DC/24DC/2.5/PT, as well as QUINT-PS/60-72DC/24DC/10/CO and QUINT-PS/96-110DC/24DC/10/CO. Only the latter two variants carry EN 50155, while the catalogue assigns EN 61373 shock and vibration compliance to all rolling-stock items except QUINT4-PS/12-24DC/24DC/1.3/PT. Conformal coating is used on items marked CO and on QUINT4-PS/24DC/24DC/20/SC/+. For infrastructure, QUINT4-PS/24-48DC/48DC/2/PT provides 3.1 kV DC input-to-output isolation voltage in type testing and is assigned EN 50124-1 compliance by the catalogue; TRIO-PS-2G/230AC-400DC/48DC/5 accepts 220–400 V DC or 220–240 V AC. TRIO is the only item in the category whose datasheet confirms compliance with EN 50124-1 and EN 50125-3.
