Fluke 1587 FC Insulation Multimeter (50–1000 V test voltages)

Digital multimeter with an integrated insulation tester, combining insulation resistance measurements with a full range of true-RMS multimeter functions. One instrument replaces two during inspections of motors, cables and switchboards.

Compared with a simple insulation tester, it offers PI/DAR testing (polarization index and dielectric absorption ratio) with graphs in Fluke Connect, temperature compensation and a test interlock when voltage is detected in the circuit. After the test, the instrument automatically discharges the capacitance of the device under test.

In depots and substations, the tester is used for periodic insulation checks of traction and auxiliary motor windings, cables supplying point machines and turnout heating circuits. Comparing a result with a reference measurement reveals moisture or contamination before insulation breakdown occurs.
