What the standard covers

The specification covers requirements and tests for single- and multi-pole magnetic (hydraulic-magnetic), trip-free circuit breakers, unsealed or panel-sealed, with rated currents of 0.2–100 A, up to 240 V 400 Hz and 480 V 60 Hz AC, and 125 V DC, with optional auxiliary contacts and voltage poles.

Detail specifications (/1…/22) define specific versions. The specification does not apply to printed circuits.

What this means for selection

Qualification according to MIL-PRF-55629 confirms circuit-breaker testing for shock, vibration, humidity and endurance to US military requirements, which supports selection for harsh environments; it does not replace EN 61373 / EN 50155 tests required for rolling stock in the EU.
