LEL is the only variant of the 214 family with a UL 489 listing. Ratings are 0.02–100 A at 80 V DC and up to 50 A at 250 V AC, with rated interrupting capacity up to 50,000 A at 80 V DC-the highest in the 214 family. One pole occupies 19×52×63 mm. Approvals: UL 489, CSA, VDE and CCC. The characteristic remains stable from −40 to +85 °C without derating.
In DC trams and trains, the device is used as the main incoming circuit breaker for circuits supplied from an 80 V DC onboard battery.
The housing material used in production of this family-a glass-fibre-reinforced polyester composite designated 610-P610B01-meets R22 and R23 requirements from Table 5 of EN 45545-2:2013+A1:2015 for hazard levels HL1, HL2 and HL3. Test results: oxygen index >80.0%, Ds max 41, CIT(NLP) 0.05 [Warringtonfire summary report no. 522701 dated 12.09.2022, based on reports 518051, 518056 and 518062]. The assessment applies to the material itself in the tested form; compliance of the complete apparatus is confirmed by the manufacturer for the specific version.
