QUINT - Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)

QUINT4-UPS uninterruptible power supplies maintain a 24 V DC bus at 10 A or 20 A, protecting controllers, diagnostic systems and signalling circuits against supply interruptions. Transfer time to battery operation is 0 ms. IQ Technology continuously monitors battery-pack condition and health, adjusts charging parameters and makes it possible to predict backup time and remaining battery life. The battery pack is a separate item-the UPS supports capacities from 1.2 Ah to 80 Ah using VRLA, VRLA-WTR and lithium-ion technologies, and backup time is 25 min with a 7.2 Ah pack for the 10 A version and 22 min with a 12 Ah pack for the 20 A version.

In railway infrastructure, a typical application is an interlocking supplied redundantly from three independent sources: the public grid, the traction network and an emergency generator. The UPS maintains controller operation while switching between sources, directly supporting signalling-system availability. In rail vehicles, the UPS maintains diagnostics and control during temporary loss of supply from the onboard battery.

The modules pass shock and vibration tests according to EN 61373 and comply with EN 50121-3-2. Up to five units can be connected in parallel through decoupling modules, extending backup time and providing supply redundancy. Electromagnetic compatibility and environmental compliance must be assessed together with the power supply used and for the specific application.
