The UniCard format is the basis of two marker families intended for rail vehicles: UC and UCT. One format covers four applications-marking DIN-rail terminal blocks, wires and cables, devices and installations-simplifying inventory management and allowing an entire facility to be marked using one carrier format. Markers can be produced on all printers that support card-format materials, and the UCT family is compatible with all three printing technologies: laser marking, UV LED printing and thermal transfer.
Both families meet DIN EN 45545-2 requirements for R22, R23 and R24 sets for fire protection of rail vehicles. The polycarbonate UCT family achieves hazard level HL3 with UL 94 V0 flammability class and operates from −40 °C to +120 °C. The polyamide UC family achieves hazard levels HL1–HL2 for the same R22, R23 and R24 sets, has UL 94 V2 flammability class and an upper operating temperature of +120 °C. UCT materials are halogen-free-without chlorine or bromine in flame retardants and without PVC in components; in the UC family, halogen-free status depends on the variant. The card format allows a complete set of markers for an entire cabinet to be printed in one run and individual pieces to be broken out during assembly.
