Fixed-guideway transit systems - fire-protection requirements (North American market).
The standard covers life-safety and fire-protection requirements for fixed-guideway transit and passenger rail systems, including stations, trainways, emergency ventilation systems, vehicles, emergency procedures, communications and control systems.
It applies both to INFRASTRUCTURE (stations, tunnels) and rolling stock (vehicles, including requirements for vehicle materials and electrical installations).
For vehicles and installations supplied to the US/Canadian market, NFPA 130 plays a role comparable to EN 45545 in Europe - purchasers require evidence that vehicle materials and equipment comply with its vehicle chapter.
