DNV environmental test specification for electrical and electronic equipment on ships.
The class guideline specifies environmental testing for instrumentation and automation equipment: hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electromechanical and electronic equipment, including computers and peripherals, installed on ships, offshore units and high-speed craft classed by DNV.
The document harmonizes requirements with IACS UR E10 and IEC 60092-504. DNV determines the test scope for a particular product individually according to application and installation location on the ship.
The result of testing to CG-0339 is a set of location classes entered in the Type Approval Certificate; the classes define the shipboard conditions under which the product may operate. The CG-0339 number alone in a datasheet means that tests were performed according to this specification and requires checking the classes in the DNV certificate.
CG-0339 testing does not replace railway tests under EN 50155 / EN 61373, although it covers similar phenomena (temperature, humidity, vibration, EMC).
The November 2015 edition defines the installation location using five parameters. Temperature: A 0…+45 °C, B 0…+55 °C, C −25…+45 °C, D −25…+55 °C. Humidity: A up to 96% RH without condensation, B up to 100% RH with condensation. Vibration: A 1.0 mm (2–13.2 Hz) and 0.7 g (13.2–100 Hz), B 1.6 mm (2–25 Hz) and 4.0 g (25–100 Hz), C 2.5 mm (2–15 Hz) and 2.3 g (15–50 Hz).
EMC: A and B (immunity and emission under IEC 61000 series). Enclosure: A IP20, B IP44, C IP56, D IP68. Test program: visual inspection, functional testing, supply variations, vibration, dry heat (55–70 °C), damp heat (40 °C / 93% RH), cold (−25…+5 °C), salt mist, inclination, insulation resistance, dielectric test and EMC tests.
Compare the DNV certificate classes (Temperature/Humidity/Vibration/EMC/Enclosure) with the installation conditions; a product tested to DNVGL-CG-0339 (2015 or 2019) retains its certificate, and class values should be checked in the edition cited by the certificate.
