French standard - selection of rolling-stock materials according to fire behaviour (reaction to fire, smoke, toxicity); NF F 16-102 applies it to electrical equipment.
Parts declared by products:
The standard establishes criteria for selecting materials used in railway rolling stock according to their behaviour in fire: reaction to fire, smoke opacity, gas toxicity and smoke indices. Annex A contains specific SNCF and RATP requirements.
NF F16-102 applies these criteria to electrical equipment: installations inside and outside the vehicle, materials near high-voltage circuits, enclosures, and potting and impregnating materials. Both standards apply to rolling stock.
AFNOR keeps NF F 16-101 in force (a standard with mandatory application, under review) alongside NF EN 45545-2. Mersen data sheets for onboard boxes declare classes M1F1–M1F3 according to NF F 16-101/16-102 alongside EN 45545.
