Onboard junction boxes rated 750 V DC, 1500 V DC and 2000 V DC connect supply cables from current collectors on both sides of the vehicle before power is routed to the traction equipment. One box carries 1, 2 or 3 independent circuits with common or separate inputs and outputs, with current up to 3500 A DC per box. 750 V DC bogie version: 250–1400 A, operating temperature −20 °C to +40 °C, IP55 protection provided by cable glands. Horizontal or vertical mounting, on the roof or bogie.
The junction boxes use the same enclosures as Mersen fuse boxes - a single moulded enclosure-and-cover geometry, with dimensions and number of inputs and outputs adapted to the vehicle project. Enclosure made of 25% glass-fibre-reinforced polyester (class M1F1 according to NF F 16 101/16 102), coated with 300–400 µm gelcoat (class M1F3, selectable colours), or through-coloured SMC (class M1F2). Cover with captive screws. Installation on U-rails through Micaver insulators or directly on moulded-in threaded inserts. Resistant to mechanical shock, rain, snow, wind, solar radiation, detergents and vibration - tested according to IEC 61373 level 3.
Options: inspection window in the cover, voltage/current/energy measurement, custom enclosure colour. IEC or UL versions. The boxes operate together with third-rail current collectors (CCD) and fuse boxes.
