What it covers

Qi Certified applies to wireless power transmitters and receivers complying with the Qi Specification (Baseline Power Profile BPP: at least 5 W; Extended Power Profile EPP: up to 15 W with bidirectional communication, introduced in version 1.2; Qi2 and Qi2 25 W).

The certificate confirms successful compliance testing against the specification and interoperability testing with a set of previously certified products from other manufacturers. The program is global; only certified products may carry the Qi logo.

What the certificate demonstrates

The certificate demonstrates that an independent laboratory confirmed compliance with the Qi specification, including no overheating of the reference set of foreign objects (FOD) and interoperability with other Qi products. Terms such as “Qi compliant”, “Qi compatible” and “Works with Qi” refer to products without WPC certification.

Certification process

The manufacturer joins WPC, registers the product in the member certification system, sends it to an ATL for compliance testing on a WPC-validated test platform, then to an IOC for interoperability testing with a set of certified products; results go to WPC, which grants certification and issues a Qi Certificate of Registration.

The specification does not mandate a single FOD method; compliance testing verifies that the transmitter does not heat a set of reference foreign objects. When a new specification version is introduced, WPC applies a transition period; average testing time in 2026 was 24 days.

Scope, classes and levels

  • BPP (Baseline Power Profile): ≥5 W
  • EPP (Extended Power Profile): up to 15 W
  • Qi2, Qi2 25 W

What to check in the datasheet and certificate

Ask the manufacturer for the Qi Certificate of Registration and compare the product (appearance, brand, name, model number) with the Qi Certified Products database entry; the URL in the certificate links to the WPC entry.
