Wheel-Flange Lubrication - Carbon Sticks and Applicators

Dry wheel-flange lubrication system: a low-friction carbon-based stick combined with corrosion-resistant applicators and brackets. The applicator spring keeps the stick in constant contact with the flange, so lubrication works without a liquid installation - eliminating the risk of loss of track-circuit shunting, which Mersen documents as a problem associated with liquid lubrication.

Declared standards: EN 16028 and EN 15427-2-1 (wheel–rail lubrication), EN 61373 (shock and vibration), EN 45545 (fire protection). Application: passenger and freight rolling stock.

Operational effect according to Mersen: reduced train energy consumption and protection of wheel and rail surfaces without releasing lubricants into the environment.

Key features:

  • Low-friction carbon-based stick with applicator and bracket
  • Applicator spring keeps the stick continuously pressed against the wheel flange
  • Dry lubrication - no risk of loss of track-circuit shunting
  • Declared standards: EN 16028, EN 15427-2-1, EN 61373, EN 45545
  • Application: passenger and freight rolling stock
