The standard specified requirements for lubricants used at the interface between the wheel flange and rail head, for trainborne and trackside applications: approval procedures, test methods and in-service monitoring. Its subject matter has been taken over by EN 15427-2-1:2022. It applied to rolling stock and fixed infrastructure.
