SAFEMASTER W transmits safety signals over radio where cabling is impossible or uneconomic. The UH 6900 module in pair mode links to a second UH 6900 module or to the handheld transmitter RE 6900; the transmission is bidirectional and monitored for link quality, and loss of the link switches off the safety circuit on the receiving side. Each module accepts up to three two-channel safety devices - emergency stop button, guard, type 4 light curtain, two-hand control - plus eight inputs and eight semiconductor outputs for auxiliary signals carried over the same link. The operating mode is selected with a rotary switch, while the radio parameters and the module name are set by software, which also shows the transmission quality and the result of an analysis of existing radio networks at the installation site.
The handheld transmitter RE 6900 has an emergency stop button and a three-position enabling switch: machine movement is permitted only with the centre position pressed; releasing or pressing through interrupts the movement. DOLD specifies motion and shock detection and user authentication by RFID; the transmitter is charged in the ZB 6900/200 station.
DOLD lists the applications: extensive or mobile hazard zones, large machines, assembly halls and scaffolds, conveyors, high-bay warehouses, forklifts, driverless transport systems, and wireless retrofitting of existing safety systems. For railways we propose it for rolling stock maintenance stands with movable platforms, track machines and equipment in tunnels. The system requires validation according to EN ISO 13849-2 and a range check according to the antenna selection note.
