A hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker in the smallest UL 489-approved housing currently available on the market. One- and two-pole versions are rated 2–20 A at 277 V AC and 2–30 A at 240 V AC per pole, with a rated interrupting capacity of up to 10,000 A using option “R” in the sixth position of the part number; the standard version is 5000 A. The family includes LEJ, LEJV, LUJ and LUJV variants, previously classified under the 217 family.
The design is derived from the LEG/LEGA series and retains its panel cutout and mounting dimensions, allowing replacement without modifying the front panel. The reduced-depth “A” variant occupies 31% less space behind the panel than the standard version. Arc-extinguishing technology enables operation at 277 V AC per pole.
The Sensata railway brochure lists LEJ in three application maps-signalling equipment, coach HVAC systems, and auxiliary converters and battery chargers. Note: EN 45545-2 material report no. 522701 and the rolling-stock manufacturer implementation list refer to the JLE (218) series, not LEJ-the designations are similar and must be confirmed with the manufacturer before LEJ is proposed for installation in a vehicle. The manufacturer’s training material assigns LEJ to railway wayside cabinets.
The datasheet declares UL 489 and TÜV according to EN 60947-2; it contains no railway standards or EN 45545-2 material testing.
