The Airpax 209 E-frame family protects substation auxiliary circuits. One frame covers eight subseries: 209 (UL 489 Branch CB), 219 (UL 508 manual motor controller), 229 (UL 1077 supplementary circuits), 229D Marine (UL 1500 ignition protected), 249 Power Selector, 279 Telecom (UL 489A, 160 V DC, rated interrupting capacity 5000 A), and 299 Special Construction. Versions from one to six poles are available.
Delay curves 64, 65 and 66 tolerate inrush currents up to 30 times rated current, so transformer energization does not trip the breaker. The characteristic remains stable from −40 to +85 °C.
The housing material used in production of this family-a glass-fibre-reinforced polyester composite designated 610-P610B01-meets R22 and R23 requirements from Table 5 of EN 45545-2:2013+A1:2015 for hazard levels HL1, HL2 and HL3. Test results: oxygen index >80.0%, Ds max 41, CIT(NLP) 0.05 [Warringtonfire summary report no. 522701 dated 12.09.2022, based on reports 518051, 518056 and 518062]. The assessment applies to the material itself in the tested form; compliance of the complete apparatus is confirmed by the manufacturer for the specific version.
