Onboard energy measurement on railway vehicles.
Parts declared by products:
The series specifies the energy measurement system (EMS) onboard traction units drawing energy from the traction power supply. Part 2 covers the energy measurement function (EMF): current and voltage sensors, the energy-calculation function and conformity-assessment procedures, including legal metrological control.
The standard applies to rolling stock (traction units).
A transducer or sensor declared to EN 50463-2 can form part of an EMS used for traction-energy billing (a requirement of the ENE/LOC&PAS TSIs), because the standard specifies accuracy classes and tests for current and voltage sensors.
