Electricity metering equipment - particular requirements for static active- and reactive-energy meters (62053-21/-22/-23) and pulse output (62053-31).
Parts declared by products:
Parts 21, 22 and 23 specify particular requirements (type tests) for static meters of active energy classes 0.5/1/2 (21), active energy classes 0.1S/0.2S/0.5S supplied through instrument transformers (22), and reactive energy classes 2 and 3 (23) in AC networks up to 1000 V, 50/60 Hz; portable, vehicle, laboratory and reference meters are excluded.
The 2020 editions moved safety requirements to IEC 62052-31 and general requirements to IEC 62052-11:2020. Part 31 (1998) covered passive two-wire pulse-output devices for meters; it was withdrawn in 2022 and its content was taken over by IEC 62052-11:2020.
The accuracy class according to IEC 62053-21/-22/-23 defines the active- and reactive-energy measurement error of an analyser, determining whether it is suitable for billing or only for monitoring in a substation; pulse output should now be specified according to IEC 62052-11.
