Active electrical-energy meters covered by the MID; Part 1 - general requirements and tests, Part 3 - static meters of classes A, B, C.
The series covers newly manufactured AC active-energy meters of classes A, B and C for billing in residential, commercial and light-industrial premises, on 50 Hz networks (the 2022 Part 3 also covers 60 Hz), up to 1000 V AC.
Part 1 gives general requirements and type tests, while Part 3 gives particular requirements for static meters. The series excludes portable meters, reference meters and meters for railway rolling stock, vehicles, ships and aircraft; it does not cover tamper protection; electrical safety is referred to EN 62052-31.
The standard defines accuracy classes A/B/C and tests for billing meters in stationary installations (buildings, substations, technical facilities); because rolling stock is excluded from its scope, it is not a basis for selecting onboard meters.
