VDE mark (Offenbach) - safety of electrotechnical products to DIN VDE/EN/IEC standards; separate EMC mark.
The VDE Mark covers electrotechnical products and medical devices and confirms conformity with VDE/EN/IEC standards, other technical specifications, and safety and health regulations. The Institute operates separate marks: VDE GS (work equipment and ready-to-use products), VDE Cable Mark (cables, wires, conduits and installation ducts), and VDE EMC Mark (conformity with VDE/EN/IEC/CISPR electromagnetic-compatibility standards).
The mark is used on the German and European markets; CB certificates issued by VDE facilitate approvals in IECEE countries.
The mark demonstrates successful type testing to the specified standard, inspection of the manufacturing facility and regular production surveillance. The VDE Mark without the EMC suffix concerns safety and does not demonstrate EMC conformity; EMC conformity is confirmed by the separate VDE EMC Mark.
The mark does not replace environmental or railway testing (EN 50155, EN 45545).
The Institute tests the product in its own laboratories or at the manufacturer's premises to DIN VDE / EN / IEC standards. Granting the mark requires a successful product test, a successful manufacturing-site inspection and regular production surveillance (factory inspections and surveillance testing of the product).
The certificate contains its number, company name and address, product category, type designation, awarded VDE mark and technical data. The certificate number contains at least 6 digits (shorter numbers are padded with leading zeros); for numbers containing the letters HA/NA, the letters are omitted when searching.
Check the VDE certificate number and type designation on the product or datasheet, then search the VDE certificate database by certificate number; compare the type designation and awarded mark (VDE or VDE EMC) with the scope of the database entry.
