Protistor® Size 302 and 2x302 aR 1800 VDC (Railway)

Ultra-fast aR fuse-links in square-body size 302 and 2×302 for onboard 1800 V DC circuits (voltage according to IEC 60077-5). Rated current range 160–570 A across six fuse-links: D302AR18C160QFB, D302AR18C300QFB and D302AR18C320QFB (size 302, 1.83 kg), and D2302AR18C360QFB, D2302AR18C540QFB and D2302AR18C570QFB (size 2×302, 4.4 kg). Breaking capacity 90 kA at 1800 V with circuit time constant L/R = 10 ms.

The family was developed for rolling stock: qualification according to IEC 60077-5 covers shock and vibration in the railway environment, while the aR characteristic with low pre-arcing I²t (from 3.2 kA²s for the 160 A fuse) limits energy let-through to semiconductors before the short-circuit current reaches a level dangerous to IGBT or SiC structures. The datasheet specifies a low minimum breaking current - 690 A at 1800 V and L/R = 30 ms for the 160 A fuse - so the fuse also interrupts faults with limited available current, typical of circuits supplied from onboard batteries.

Applications according to the datasheet: protection of auxiliary and traction converters, onboard energy storage systems (EES) and the onboard DC supply line. Enhanced resistance to load cycling corresponds to duty profiles with frequent starts. Applications on AC lines require consultation with Mersen.
