Ultra-fast aR fuse-links in square-body size 122 and 2×122 for onboard 1800 V DC circuits (voltage according to IEC 60077-5). Rated current range 230–650 A across six fuse-links: D122AR18C230QFB, D122AR18C315QFB and D122AR18C360QFB (size 122, 1.81 kg), and D2122AR18C440QFB, D2122AR18C530QFB and D2122AR18C650QFB (size 2×122, 3.35 kg). Breaking capacity 90 kA at 1800 V with circuit time constant L/R = 10 ms.
The family was developed for rolling stock: qualification according to IEC 60077-5 covers shock and vibration in the railway environment, and the low pre-arcing I²t (from 9.03 kA²s for the 230 A fuse) limits the energy passed to semiconductors during a short circuit. A minimum breaking current of 990 A at 1800 V and L/R = 30 ms for the 230 A fuse enables interruption of faults with limited available current, typical of onboard battery-supplied circuits.
Applications according to the datasheet: protection of auxiliary and traction converters, onboard energy storage systems (EES) and the onboard DC supply line. Applications on AC lines require consultation with Mersen. The family complements the 302/2×302 aR 1800VDC version with size 122.
