The Airpax 218 series in F-frame handles high-current main circuits in traction equipment cabinets. Versions are available with one to six poles. A single pole carries 100–250 A; poles connected in parallel carry 275–800 A at 160 V DC and 275–1200 A at 65 V DC.
Rated interrupting capacity is 10,000 A at 160 V DC and, at 65 V DC, 100,000 A for 1–800 A devices and 65,000 A for 801–1200 A devices. The JLE variant is UL 489 listed, JTE is UL 489A telecom, and JAE complies with IEC 60947-2 and AS 60947.2-2005. The characteristic remains stable from −40 to +85 °C.
The housing material used in production of this family-a glass-fibre-reinforced polyester composite designated 610-P610B01-meets R22 and R23 requirements from Table 5 of EN 45545-2:2013+A1:2015 for hazard levels HL1, HL2 and HL3. Test results: oxygen index >80.0%, Ds max 41, CIT(NLP) 0.05 [Warringtonfire summary report no. 522701 dated 12.09.2022, based on reports 518051, 518056 and 518062]. The assessment applies to the material itself in the tested form; compliance of the complete apparatus is confirmed by the manufacturer for the specific version.
