Railway applications - insulation coordination; clearances and creepage distances in railway equipment.
The standard covers insulation coordination of electrical and electronic equipment used in signalling, rolling stock and fixed installations up to 2000 m above sea level; it specifies clearances and creepage distances. It is the international counterpart of EN 50124-1 with the same title; EN 50124-1:2017 is a standalone CENELEC standard.
Distances according to IEC 62497-1 take into account overvoltages and pollution in the railway environment and altitude up to 2000 m; declaration of this standard confirms insulation dimensioning for circuits supplied from the traction network.
