German edition of low-voltage fuse standards (IEC/HD 60269); current Part 2 for NH fuse-links, former Parts 201 and 23 withdrawn.
The VDE 0636 series is the German implementation of the IEC/HD 60269 low-voltage fuse standards. Part 2 (VDE 0636-2) covers enclosed current-limiting fuse-links with a breaking capacity of at least 6 kA for protection of AC circuits up to 1000 V and DC circuits up to 1500 V, for operation by skilled persons, in standardized systems A–K (systems A and B are NH fuse-links with blade contacts, B with striker).
Former Part 201 (equivalent to IEC 60269-2-1) was incorporated into Part 2 in 2008. Former VDE 0636-23 covered NH fuse-links for semiconductor protection up to 1600 A and 3000 V; its subject was taken over by DIN EN 60269-4 (VDE 0636-40).
A VDE 0636-2 declaration corresponds to IEC 60269-2 requirements for NH fuse-links of systems A/B in industrial and substation installations; for semiconductor fuse-links, the correct reference is IEC 60269-4 / VDE 0636-40, so the manufacturer should state the current designation.
