Electromagnetic compatibility - generic standards: immunity (-6-1, -6-2) and emission (-6-3, -6-4) in residential and industrial environments; -6-8 for commercial/public premises.
IEC 61000-6-2 specifies EMC immunity requirements for electrical and electronic equipment intended for industrial environments over the range 0 Hz–400 GHz. The generic standard applies when no dedicated product or product-family EMC standard exists.
The generic standards in the 61000-6 series refer to test methods from the IEC 61000-4 series and define test levels and performance criteria.
Compliance with EN 61000-6-2 confirms a component's immunity to disturbances typical of the industrial environment; rolling stock requires the levels of EN 50121-3-2, so an EN 61000-6-2 declaration alone does not satisfy railway requirements.
