Mechanical structures for electronic equipment - electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of cabinets and racks.
The standard specifies tests for the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of empty cabinets and subracks made according to the IEC 60917 and IEC 60297 series, over the range 30 MHz to 3000 MHz, as well as shielding effectiveness levels for industrial applications.
The result applies to the empty structure and does not replace EMC compliance testing of the equipped enclosure. Edition 2 corrected the description of the EM code and extended the frequency range.
The shielding level according to IEC 61587-3 helps select a cabinet for railway signalling and telecommunications equipment sensitive to RF fields and allows products from different manufacturers to be compared using the same method.
