HV fuse-links for direct-on-line motor circuits - t-I characteristics, resistance to starting pulses; compliant with IEC 60282-1.
The standard covers high-voltage fuse-links used with direct-on-line motors in 50/60 Hz AC systems. It standardises time-current characteristics, specifies additional requirements for withstand to current pulses (motor starting) and gives guidance for selecting fuse-links for motor circuits.
Fuse-links compliant with IEC 60644 are required to meet IEC 60282-1 (high-voltage AC fuses).
A fuse-link according to IEC 60644 has tested withstand to repeated motor starting-current pulses, so it does not age prematurely in circuits with frequent starts; the t-I characteristic is standardised, allowing coordination with an MV contactor (IEC 62271-106) according to the standard's guidance.
