Joslyn Clark CV series vacuum contactors are compact, rugged contactors and starters for demanding industrial applications, available in sizes 4, 5 and 6 (S4–S6). They are direct 1:1 replacements for NEMA air contactors, reducing maintenance costs and eliminating downtime; they work with all motor types, including high-efficiency IEC and NEMA Design E motors.
Operating voltage 600 V (S4), 1000 V (S5), 1500 V (S6); rated current in AC1 utilization category (resistive loads according to IEC 60947): 135–200 A (S4), 270–400 A (S5), 540–600 A (S6); AC3 motor rating (squirrel-cage motors) up to 500 hp/370 kW (S4), 850 hp/650 kW (S5), 900 kW at 1500 V (S6). Making/breaking current 2000/1600 A (S4), 4000/3200 A (S5), 6000/4800 A (S6); short-circuit withstand (50 ms) 10,000 A (S4), 18,000 A (S5), 30,000 A (S6). Mechanical/electrical life 1.2 million/1 million cycles (S4, S5) and 0.75 million/0.5 million cycles (S6); operating frequency 600 operations/h (S4, S5), 300/h (S6); temperature −40 to +50 °C. Railway applications: stationary medium-voltage distribution and motor switching in rolling-stock maintenance facilities (depots, workshops), tunnel ventilation, pumping stations and tunnel-boring machine power supplies.
