High-voltage AC contactors and motor starters 1–12 kV; standard withdrawn in 2011, replaced by IEC 62271-106.
The standard applied to AC contactors and contactor-based motor starters for indoor installations, at frequencies up to 60 Hz, in systems with voltage above 1000 V and up to 12 000 V. It covered three-pole contactors for three-phase systems and single-pole contactors for single-phase systems.
Since 2011 its subject matter has been taken over by IEC 62271-106 in the high-voltage switchgear series.
MV vacuum contactors up to 12 kV are now selected according to IEC 62271-106; an IEC 60470 declaration should be treated as a reference to a historical edition and the manufacturer should be asked for a current declaration.
