Joslyn Clark SVC series vacuum contactors are premium solutions for switchgear and variable-frequency-drive manufacturers. The 12 kV / 630 A version controls medium-voltage motors, transformers, reactive-power compensation capacitor banks and heavy loads. A switching-surge suppression system enables switching of capacitor banks (single banks and back-to-back banks connected while another bank is already energized) with three-phase synchronization ≤2 ms; mechanically latched, electrically held mechanism. Assembly versions combine 2–3 VC/MVC interrupters for currents up to 1500 A.
Rated voltage 12,000 V (assembly versions also 1500–7200 V); rated current 400 / 630 A (assemblies up to 3000 A); making current = breaking current 4000 / 6300 A; capacitor switching 3500 kvar (single bank). Rated impulse withstand voltage Uimp 75,000 V; dielectric withstand 4200 V (1 min), BIL - basic impulse insulation level - 75 kV. Mechanical/electrical life 300,000 / 200,000 cycles; operating frequency 100 operations/h; weight 36.74 kg. Standards: IEC 60470, GB/T 14808, GB 11022. Coils: 110 V AC, 220 V AC.
Railway applications: stationary switching of capacitor banks in compensation systems at maintenance facilities and connection switchgear. Industrial-design apparatus - not intended for onboard rolling-stock installation without manufacturer confirmation.
