It replaced IEC 60950-1 (IT equipment) and IEC 60065 (audio/video equipment); IEC 60335-1 identifies it as the standard for ICT equipment outside its own scope.
A switch tested as a component for equipment according to IEC 62368-1 has confirmed parameters for safeguarding energy sources in power supplies and ICT equipment - data needed when assessing the safety of onboard passenger-information and communication systems.
